Anaemia occurs when the body’s haemoglobin count is below normal, leading to a lack of oxygen in the organs. The symptoms of anaemia vary, but can include:
- Feelings of weakness and fatigue
- Lack of concentration
- Heart palpitations
- Pale/yellowing skin
- Changes is stool colour
There are many reasons why this might occur, including poor diet, decreased absorption of nutrients and blood loss from the gastrointestinal tract.
Anaemia should be carefully evaluated and proper anaemia treatment should be taken from experts. It is usually investigated with blood tests and gastroscopy or colonoscopy where appropriate.
