There are a broad number of reasons for weight loss, ranging from benign causes (e.g. thyroid problems or coeliac disease) to worrying causes such as gastrointestinal malignancy. Weight loss needs to be assessed appropriately. Important investigations may involve:
- Blood tests
- Radiological tests
- Chest x-ray
- Ultrasound scan
- CT scan
Gastroscopy or colonoscopy can also be helpful weight loss investigations.
